Pastor Dr. Allen Kolkman
Dr. Allen Kolkman is a native Californian, born in Oxnard and raised in Ventura, and still loves beach towns. He began attending church as a teen,
participating in various evangelical churches before joining the Lutheranchurch at the age of 18.

He received his B.A. cum laude from California Lutheran University, majoring in History and Religion. He received his Masters of Divinity
Degree in 1977 from Concordia Lutheran Seminary and his Doctor of MinistryDegree in 1990 from Faith Lutheran Seminary.

His training also included ministry as a hospital chaplain in Santa Monica and then an internship (vicarage) in San Jose. It was there that he met
and married his wife, Debbie in 1976. Together, they have two daughters, Kristine and Amanda, both grown now. They make their own close to the
church in Oceanside. Pastor Kolkman has served our Pastor at Shepherd of the Valley since 1980, for 10 years as a missionary and since 1990 as our
pastor.
