11/18/08 Message from Our Pastor:

A Note from Our Pastor: Tuesday, 11/18/08
"Last Sunday, we celebrated Lutheran Layman's League Sunday, as part of our focus for the next year of presenting and celebrating the history, identity and ministries of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. The L.L.L. is probably best known for the radio program "The Lutheran Hour" now in its 75th year. More people hear the message on "The Lutheran Hour" than hear the messages of all 6,500 congregations of our denomination COMBINED - each and every week, just here in the USA. It's also known for our float in the Rose Parade, for lots of evangelism/outreach ministries, and recently, for a very strong presence on the Internet. The L.L.L. is the largest organization of its type in the USA (larger than Knights of Columbus and several other probably more known groups). All impressive for being a rather small denomination. We also celebrated the Holy Sacrament, were blessed by great worship and enjoyed wonderful fellowship. We had one first time local guest, brought by a part of our family (way to go!)

In regards to our Bowling/Pizza Activity, we had LOTS of fun last Sunday! But, oh my, we should think twice before joining a church bowling league - what a bunch of terrible bowlers we are! Well, not all. Top scorer was Alba Luga with a 145 (good going). About 20 participated, and a good time was had by all. We enjoyed the pizza and getting to know each other, too! Our thanks to Robert Mendez for coordinating.

Blessings on your week." - Pastor Al

11/11/08
"Twelve of us met on Monday night, 6 couples, for Couples' Group. We enjoyed a great "pizza and salad" meal, lots of good fellowship and conversation, and a wonderful study on the marriage vows via a book by Claire Cloninger, Making 'I Do' Last a Lifetime. We were also blessed, last Sunday, with great worship and wonderful fellowship. We celebrated the Great Confession ("Thou are the Christ, the son of the Living God") and spoke of three implications of that for our lives right here, right now, THIS Side of Heaven - in rather practical terms. Blessings on your week." - Pastor Al
